Wine Description
Ca’ la Bionda just released its 2005 AMARONE “Vigneti di Ravazzol” Riserva $90. We have been eagerly anticipating this wine ever since we tasted it in 2010 in Italy. This Amarone was outrageous then, the consensus favorite at a winemaker dinner in Verona, beating out some pretty stiff competition. You want scores?
If there were scores, this 2005 Amarone Riserva would cost a whole lot more. Outclasses the competition by a long shot.
Expect greatness:
Powerful sweet and dark cherry aromas, with notes of tobacco. Tremendous depth of fruit on the palate. Very fine grained sweet tannins; deep, ultra rich and dense chocolatey texture. Bold, but not brash. Incredibly long finish.
