CA’LA BIONDA, Valpolicella, Italy
Ca’la Bionda is our kind of winery in Valpolicella, quietly making true-to-terroir wines since 1902. In a region where work in the cellar is often the dominant factor in the resulting wine, Ca’la Bionda is one of the rare wineries thatemphasizes a sense of place, organically cultivating old-vine native grapes (Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella) on their 29 ha of hillside vineyards. The Castellani family, now in its fourth generation, have set themselves apart through their commitment to expressing their superb limestone-clay vineyards, farmed organically since 2000.
